Missions and Commitments of the Joint Documentation Service (SCD)

The University of Montpellier’s Joint Documentation Service supports students, faculty members, faculty researchers, researchers, and all staff in their studies, training, professional development, teaching, and research activities.

Its network of libraries, featuring a variety of workspaces, the breadth of its accessible collections, and the range of on-site and remote services all facilitate the use and creation of knowledge.

As a leading provider of information literacy training, the SCD helps users develop critical thinking skills and become more independent in finding, evaluating, and using information.

As the lead department for open science, the SCD supports the dissemination and promotion of the University’s scientific output, as well as the day-to-day work of faculty members and researchers.

Cultural initiatives—to which it contributes by organizing gatherings, exhibitions, and events—promote dialogue across disciplines, provide access to culture on campus, and foster an openness to knowledge for all audiences.

Innovative, inclusive, and attentive to the needs and practices of its users, the SCD contributes every day to student success, research excellence, and the University of Montpellier’s reputation and appeal.

ISO 9001:2015-Certified Activity: Records Management

By placing users at the center of its strategic planning, the SCD ensures that the implementation of initiatives, programs, and services is part of a process of continuous improvement designed to meet current and future needs, both on campus and remotely. This commitment is institutionally recognized through ISO 9001 certification for the management of library services, which encompasses all activities directed toward users, whether members of the university community or the general public.
